There is an endless wave of gun control legislation being lobbed at us. As time goes on it gets worse. There is now more anti-gun legislation proposed than I can remember in recent times. But gun control does NOT work, as I show you below.
We have also been promised by the president that he will enact some sort of executive order on guns as well, so we are all waiting for that too.
I sometimes wonder if the words “shall not be infringed” has ever had any meaning to these people. And of course, the reason why they want to enact so much gun control is to “save lives” and end “gun violence.”
As always with the anti-gun media and politicians, they tend to only look at half of the story. They pick out bits and pieces that they like to talk about, the part where people die, the types of guns used, etc., but fail to mention anything else.
One such group that only looks at half of the story is the group known as “Giffords.”
Giffords is an anti-gun group with the goal to see American’s stripped of their rights. They don’t care about facts so they make things up so that they can feel good about trying to get something done. This will be more important later on at the bottom of this article. But we have some other stuff to discuss to get us to that point.
The same is true with our elected officials. They know that nothing they pass will do anything to stop murder, but that doesn’t mean they won’t do everything in their power to restrict our rights as much as they possibly can.
Gun control doesn’t work –
Gun control won’t work. It never has worked. That’s why people are still being killed in countries around the world, as well as in places where strict gun control laws already exist. Those countries already have laws prohibiting the killing of other people. It’s called murder.
We know that, more often than not, in any shooting that takes place there is not a single gun control proposal that would do anything to stop the shooter from carrying out his or her agenda.
You can look at a recent shooting as an example. Boulder, Colorado has some of the strictest gun control measures in the country. And yet, the shooter was still able to obtain a firearm. No matter what, a person intent on killing someone or a group of people is going to do it.
They will always find a tool to carry out their atrocities.
There are already laws against killing people!
And that is one of the primary reasons why gun control won’t work.
There are already laws against killing people, and yet people still kill. Bad people intent on hurting others will never follow the law and will always seek to hurt other people.
The tool that is used is largely irrelevant.
As we’ll see in the below graphic, the primary tool the anti-gun crowd have their sights set on is the one used least often. Think about that for a moment, they want to ban the tool that is used less-often to kill than just about any other method of killing people.
The info found in the following graphic was pulled from the FBI’s website, which you can find here.
And since it was all found on the FBI’s website, it’s all about as accurate as you can get. Let’s take a look:

All loss of life is tragic. But the AR-15 is used to commit murder considerably less often than just about any other way to kill people.
Why not ban knives? Or, how about we ban hands and feet? Then again, maybe we should just place a ban on the murdering of people?
Oh wait, I feel like we’ve tried that and it doesn’t work.
So what’s really the point of the “assault weapons” ban?
Is it really about saving lives or is there some other agenda here that they want to put forth?
Only time will tell.
Not only do people kill other people more often with sharp objects, like knives, than they do with ANY rifles (to include the AR-15), they also do so more often with their bare hands.
This means that no matter what tool they have access to, bare hands, blunt objects, which I ran out of room to include in the above graphic, or anything else — people will always find a way to kill other people.
If you say otherwise you’re either a liar or have serious delusions about the human race.
But what about all firearms?
Yeah I hear ya. I don’t disagree that there IS a problem. But, it’s not the problem the anti-gun crowd make it out to be. It’s not a gun problem, it’s a person problem.
Imagine a world where, instead of blaming the object for the killing, they blame the actual killer. Though, I guess they already do that with certain things — like drunk drivers.
When a drunk driver kills an innocent person, which happens more than 10,000 times per year, they don’t blame the car. Heck, they don’t even blame the alcohol. They blame the driver, rightly so. After all, he was the dum-dum who got behind the wheel of the car and drove off, fully intoxicated.
If that’s the case, why blame the gun? Why blame the thing we have a right to own to defend life and country?
Unless there is an agenda for it. When enough people blame the tool, enough of the other people are fooled into thinking that the tool is the problem, not the person who uses the tool.
Full circle back to Giffords —
Up at the top of this article I mention the anti-gun organization known as Giffords, and it’s time we finish this article out on them as well. I refuse to link to them. Go look for yourself if you want to see what I’m talking about.
Giffords may have their heart in the right spot, and they may mean well. But they only paint half pictures.
If you were to go to their website you’d see that California is listed as their best state. They have the highest rating, an “A” on the gun law scorecard, with a “gun death rank” of 44 out of 50 states. They then proceed to tell you that stronger gun laws = fewer gun deaths.
Again, half pictures.
Because if you were to go to the FBI’s website and look at total number of people murdered by a person with a gun, you’d see that California was the worst. And when I say “worst” I mean they had the most people murdered by a person with a gun.
I linked to it above, please check the chart out for yourself.
The reason how they got to their point is based on number of deaths per 100,000 people. California is the most populous state in the country. If you are only looking at half of the picture, the number of people killed per 100,000 people is going to seem low, even though it is the highest overall.
So again, gun control doesn’t work
If it did work California’s number wouldn’t just be low per 100,000 people, it would just be low. Maybe instead of bragging about Cali, they should brag about New York which has a far lower murder rate. Then again, most of New York’s land mass is out in the country and most of their 298 murders-with-gun were conducted in NYC.
If gun control worked, then those 3,527 murders-with-gun conducted in the 12 A and B rated states plus DC (with the best gun control laws per Giffords’ website) wouldn’t have happened. By the way, I’m bad at math but why is more than 1/3 of all murders-with-gun taking place in just 12 states and DC?
More than 1/3 as in approaching half of the murders across the entire country in just over two handfuls of states.
Doesn’t that seem backwards?
If gun control worked, wouldn’t it be much lower than that? It should be.
Guns aren’t the problem, people are. This proves it.
Conclusion:
There is a problem in this country. Actually, there are a couple of problems. First, our citizens are being lied to or are at least only given half truths. They do this to further an agenda that is designed to strip our freedoms away.
Second, guns are not the problem. People are. Gun control does not work and it never will because people will always be able to kill other people because the intent is always there. Stripping us of our rights will only make more victims.
