It seems as if the good news regarding ammunition has been few and far between these days. The last good news we heard was about a month ago when Vista Outdoors informed us that Remington was back into full swing and working around the clock to get us out of this mess we’re in.
That was great news because Remington was one of the biggest ammunition makers before they were forced to stop. The timing of their demise was terrible. Right when 8.5 million new gun owners were injected into the industry, Remington had to shut down.
This left a massive hole, and of course I’m sure you have been following recent updates regarding ammo prices, where all the ammo is, etc.

It’s a mess to be sure, but things are starting to show a glimmer of hope.
The good news for ammo:
It’s a small win, for sure. But a win nonetheless.

The win is the fact that they raised the number of boxes one person can buy from two to four.
I said it was a small win, and I meant it. But this is a necessary step in the right direction. The price has not come down, and I don’t think it will be dropping at anytime in the near future. The deficit is too large and the components still too scarce for it to let up any time soon.
And the fear buying is still there causing a huge issue for demand, but this is a great sign that it’s going in the right direction.
The fact that Federal has raised the maximum number of boxes each person can buy from 2 to 4 boxes shows us that they’re starting to crawl out of the hole they’re in.
Even better is that there were multiple different calibers in stock. They’ll probably all be gone by the time you read this, but 9mm, 40, 10mm, 45 ACP, 223, and others.
Both defensive and target ammo. To be honest, this is one of the best selections in ammo that I’ve seen for a while, and as far as price goes you won’t get a better deal than straight from the manufacturer.
Conclusion:
I think we still have a long way to go before we can get back to some sort of semblance of normalcy in ammo price and availabilty.
But the light may be starting to poke through at the end of the tunnel. We’ll keep you updated as we see things happening.
