Gun and ammo manufacturer Sig Sauer announced the recall on a specific lot of their 9mm FMJ ammunition due to powder charge variations. The ammo’s powder charge may cause a round to fire but not enough to force the projectile to fully leave the barrel of the gun.
This is what is known as a squib load.
The next round may be a full power round and could hit the stuck round, causing severe damage to the firearm and potentially to the shooter as the gun breaks apart.
Sig Sauer says that if you have ammunition from the affected lot you should take it out from your stash immediately and not shoot it. DO NOT USE LOT NUMBER: JDAR0815
More info on the affected product:
Lot No. JDAR0815 of SIG SAUER 9MM, 115gr, Elite Ball, FMJ (SKU E9MMB1-50)
