Mount Sterling, Ohio – The owner of a local gas station pulled his sidearm and fired a single shot in the direction of an armed robber, narrowly missing him.
Raj Patel has owned and operated the Mount Sterling BP gas station and store for the past 23 years, and on January 10, 2022 he was forced to defend his life with his firearm.
The video footage shows the alleged robber, Daniel Collins Jr. walk into the store, leave, and then return to the store’s counter with a gun in hand. He then points the gun at Patel, who was standing behind the counter.
Patel very calmly put his drink onto his counter before pulling his own sidearm and firing a shot in the general direction of the alleged robber.
You can see the entire altercation in the below video:
The alleged attempted armed robber was not hit by the bullet. After slowing down the footage it looks as if he ducked out of the way just in time.
He was arrested after fleeing the scene of his alleged crime, and police are investigating his potential involvement in two other robberies in a local county.
And of course, it looks as if Patel’s gun had a malfunction after firing the first shot, so it’s always good to learn how to clear a malfunction and get back on target.
