Good Guy With A Gun is NOT A Myth And Other Facts

July 19, 2022 By Joshua Gillem

Once again we see that a good guy with a gun is not only capable, but necessary to stop a threat. It happens more than can ever be reported on, and the anti-gun crowd despise the stories where a good Samaritan stops a mass shooting from taking place.

Why? Because it doesn’t fit their narrative that guns are bad and only police officers who are too cowardly to protect a bunch of school kids from getting shot should have guns.

Making matters even worse for them, is that the young man who stopped the nutcase from carrying out this atrocity in Indiana is a direct result of Constitutional Carry.

They HATE this fact. They hate the fact that they cannot yell from the rooftops that, not only did a good guy with a gun stop a bad guy with a gun, but he did so LEGALLY and WITHOUT a permit to carry.

They’ve made an effort to demonize permitless carry and have said that it will plunge us back to the wild, wild west.

But we see here that Constitutional carry works well, that this individual had enough training to take several longer-distance shots, and stop the mass shooting from going any further.

It’s tragic that life was lost. That said, the ability to protect oneself cannot be overstated. Having the proper tools for the job to help equalize force is the only way to get that done.

Interestingly enough, the police said the hero shot his pistol at the bad guy 10 times. Let’s start there —

High capacity magazine restrictions are crap:

He shot 10 rounds at the bad guy. What if there were so called “high capacity” magazine restrictions limiting him to 10 rounds? And, suppose he needed an eleventh round. What then?

Now he just has a pissed off baddie, or maybe a second bad guy to deal with. At the very least he has to swap a fresh magazine in if he has one. Worst case scenario is he’s now out of ammo, thus proving that restricting the amount of ammo that a gun holds is nonsensical.

Especially when chances are good that you’re outgunned by someone with a rifle. Thankfully no such laws exist in Indiana and he was sufficiently able to defend himself and those around him.

Gun free zones are soft targets:

I can’t say for certain because I didn’t know the guy, but the bad actor probably chose a mall because they’re usually gun free zones.

Just like schools.

It varies from one state to the next how much weight a no gun sign is given and I’m not familiar with Indiana law. I know when I lived in Pennsylvania that no gun signs held zero weight and it was just a rule put forth by the facility.

Then again, in North Carolina no gun signs are given the weight of law — which is certainly something I’m not a big fan of. I choose to not shop in those places. I always opt to give my money to a business who respects my freedom.

Based on what I’ve heard others saying, Indiana has no such laws put in place. The fact remains, however, that most people don’t realize that no gun signs don’t carry any weight in some places, which is seen by the idiotic statements being made by some anti-gunners.

This, ultimately, brings me to the next point —

They’re BIG mad that he saved lives:

The anti-gun crowd is on a bit of a rampage about this 22 year old hero who stepped in with his own concealed carry gun to save lives. Usually, this type of story would be suppressed by the media. We see it all the time.

But for some reason, the lefties have utterly lost it on this one, and the tweets prove it. I want to be perfectly clear, he did NOT have to step in and save anyone. He could have bolted in the other direction.

But he didn’t. He chose to engage a threat who was bent on killing people and he did so successfully which demolishes their agenda.

Even better, they now have to acknowledge that not only is it possible for a good guy to stop a bad guy with a much less capable weapon, but it takes place everywhere, every single day.

When I had more time to cover these types of stories, I did.

Imagine being mad that a good guy stopped a bad guy:

Imagine living in a world where they get mad because they can’t further their own agenda at the expense of dead people!

That’s the state of current affairs. This is where we are right now. They are mad that he stepped in to stop a mass shooting because they cannot further their agenda off a story where the good guy wins. It goes against their agenda, and proves all of the following:

  • Constitutional carry works
  • A regular, every day citizen can save a lot of lives
  • Good guys stopping bad guys is NOT a myth
  • The anti-gun left have lost their collective minds
  • Magazine bans are ignorant and only hurt the people who would follow that law
  • Gun free zones are almost always the target for a reason

Conclusion:

At the end of the day, I’m glad there are people willing to step up and save the lives of others. It’s my hope that if you’re anti-gunner you might wake up to the fact that stories like this one happen on a regular basis.

You may not hear about it, but they do happen.

I hope that you’ll change your mind about decent people owning and carrying a gun to protect not only themselves, but also you if that dreaded time ever comes.
