It’s official, there are now 26 Constitutional Carry states in the Union. Florida has tipped the scales as now more than half of the country’s states have joined the ranks of having permitless carry status.
This isn’t a surprise because we were expecting it. Governor DeSantis said he would sign the bill if it made it to his desk. The new rule goes into effect on July 1, 2023.
This is significant because, no matter what any anti-gun politicians tell you, the People largely do NOT want any form of gun control enacted. Most of us know that gun control does not work and just makes people more open to being victimized by criminals and politicians (not that there’s a difference).
As with any of the states, you should always look at what the law on the books says, because permitless carry means one thing in one state, and something totally different in another one. Where one state opens Constitutional carry up to everyone, another only allows residents the option.
Much in the same way, one state may extend the option to carry without a permit concealed or open, while another one may only give the option for concealed carry which is what Florida reportedly has enacted.
Always check the laws where you’re going, so you know what to expect.
Make sure you bookmark our Constitutional Carry Map page that we update each time a new state is added. We’re looking forward to one more possible state being added at some point during 2023.
Stay tuned for that.
