Just two weeks before the most anticipated gun industry show of the year, which didn’t take place last year, Federal Premium announced a new self-defense cartridge called the 30 Super Carry.
The 30 Super Carry is a new handgun cartridge meant to bridge the gap between the 9mm Luger and the 380 ACP’s effectiveness. The cartridge currently will have an initial offering of HST Jacketed Hollow Point ammunition and American Eagle training ammo.
Federal came to the table prepared and reportedly brought in two different gun manufacturers to produce guns for the new cartridge. The S&W Shield and EZ, along with the Nighthawk President and GRP are the guns that will be available in the new self-defense cartridge.
Here is a pic I stole from Federal’s website, which can be found on this page.

The cartridge is said to boast 347 pounds of energy at the muzzle and clocks in some serious speeds at 1250 FPS. Here is our 30 Super Carry Ballistics page.
As we learn more about this cartridge, and have the chance to shoot it during Industry Day at the Range, we’ll be sure to let you know what we think. Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on our coverage of the show.
