Colt Issues Voluntary Recall on Modern Sporting Rifles

November 4, 2021 By Joshua Gillem

Colt’s Manufacturing Company recently issued a safety recall for some of their modern sporting rifle platforms manufactured from March 5, 2021 onward.

The safety recall only affects a small number of AR-15 style rifles, but if you bought a rifle from them during that timeframe it is recommended that you check the serial number as mentioned on their page, here.

The following list shows the reportedly affected models, to include some very popular models like the 6920:

  • AR15A4
  • CR6700A4
  • CR6920
  • CR6920-EPR
  • CR6920MPS-B
  • CR6921
  • CR6921-EPR
  • CR6933
  • CR6933-EPR
  • CR6960
  • LE6920-EPR
  • LE6920MPS-B
  • LE6920-OEM1
  • LE6920-OEM2
  • LE6920-R
  • LE6933-EPR
  • SP633784
  • LE6920SOCOM

The issue Colt discovered is when certain rifles unintentionally discharge a round on the release of the trigger. They have said that the issue is happening because certain hammers don’t meet the proper specs.

Colt has said they they will correct the problem by replacing the hammer in the affected rifles.

If you have one of the affected modern sporting rifles listed above and cross checked with the serial number on their website, they will pay for shipping, replace your parts, and ship your rifle back to you quickly.

Colt has also said that there are still potentially affected rifles out for sale in local dealers. If you are a dealer with Colt MSR rifles in stock, please visit this page: ColtRepairMSR.com.
