5 Really Cool Items from Skinner Sights for the Outdoorsman

October 26, 2022 By Terry Nelson

If you enjoy the aesthetic appeal and functionality of a high-quality peep sight on your favorite lever gun then chances are you already know about Skinner Sights. If not, then it may be high time you check them out. Andy Larsson has owned and operated Skinner Sights based in St. Ignatius, Montana since 2010.

Larsson states “We have worked hard to design sights which are not only extremely functional and rugged, but to also complement the firearm. I make high quality sights at a reasonable cost to the customer.”

What makes Skinner Sights so good you may ask? Basically, every sight is machined from bar stock, stainless steel or solid steel. Only their picatinny rails are aluminum and they are designed to enhance the aesthetics of the rifle.

Aside from the fact that they offer a wide selection of sights for everything from bolt guns to lever actions to single shot long guns and more, Skinner Sights also offers a variety of really cool shooting related products.

Recently while attending the Outdoor News America Gun Writers Conference, I found that Skinner Sights was well, more than just sights.

Listed below are five products that could spark the interest of any shooting or hunting enthusiast:

HTF Garment Bag

This bag is looks like nothing more than your everyday hanging garment bag. However, upon closer inspection you will find that is designed to hold up to a 40” long gun, two handguns, additional magazines, plus pockets for additional survival gear.

The garment bag can also be folded in half, buckled, and carried like a regular gun style case. Very Handy!

Cartridge Pockets

These cartridges carriers are designed to hold four rounds of rifle ammo in your pocket in individual sleeves. Keeps your extra cartridges from clinking together in your pocket while hunting. What a simple but practical idea!

Butt Cuff Cartridge Carrier

Carrying extra cartridges on the butt stock of your rifle can be handy. In addition, an option to have a “Cheek Riser” added to the carrier to allow for a more natural cheek weld is a really nice option. Skinner joined forces with Simply Rugged Holsters to have these cartridge carriers built.

Skinner 1×6 Scope

Looking for a rugged and affordable low power scope that will fit your bolt rifle, lever gun, AR platform or even your shotgun? The Skinner Optics Scope can do just that. A 1×6 magnification scope, 30mm tube, with a center illuminated dot and a generic BDC reticle, a solid value at $249.

Oh yeah, Peep Sights

As previously mentioned, Skinner aperture or peep sights are perhaps what the company is best known for. In Andy Larsson’s own words, “we have worked hard to design sights which are not only extremely functional and rugged, but to also complement the firearm.”

I have met Andy personally and handled many of his products. I know him to be a man of his word. When he says, “Our sights are guaranteed with a 30-day, money back, policy. Your satisfaction is very important to me. If at any time your sight needs to be repaired, I do so at no charge” … he means it.

Skinner Sights offers much more including slings, gun cases, flashlight mounts, and Bush Pilot Survival Kits that includes a takedown carbine!
