California — Coming out of California is the most aggressive form of gun control in recent years. Gavin Newsom, the Governor of Cali seeks to gut the Second Amendment with the ratification of a 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
The proposal seeks to make several changes to the gun landscape of America:
- Raise the minimum age to buy a firearm from 18 to 21;
- Mandate universal background checks;
- Institute a “reasonable” waiting period for all gun purchases;
- Ban so-called “assault rifles” across the nation.
The above-proposed changes would essentially gut the Second Amendment and America’s gun-owning history. The proposal seeks to punish folks who have never committed a crime, all the while being soft on criminals himself.
The proposed 28th Amendment to the US Constitution will allegedly be put forth by California state senator Aisha Wahab and assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer out of Los Angeles.
The bill is backed by several gun control groups.
They have a massive uphill battle as they would need a total of 2/3 of the states, which is 34 (including California), just to call the Convention of States to propose the Amendment.
Then for the Amendment to be ratified, 3/4 of the states, which is 38 of them, would need both houses to be in favor.
This comes shortly after the 26th and 27th states enacted constitutional, or permitless, concealed carry. Below is the map of states so far that have enacted this pro-gun measure:

More than half of the country is green, with several other states that would likely be a “no” vote because both houses of Congress are needed for a Constitutional Amendment.
Stay tuned for more, because we’ll continue to cover this and other stories like it, as they break.
